Someone called me, my aunt, and my brother a racial slur and my brother punched him and cracked a small bone under his eye. I don't know what the fuck it's called. But basically he has a felony because he broke a bone and because I was there and spat on the guy I got in trouble too. It was so fucking stupid but basically it's court ordered anger management and psychiatric care (I already had one before) all for defending ourselves after being a Sand N.... It was a hate crimr and we are guilty

Oh holy fuck no. Going through the psychiatrist/therapist thing with my oldest. For him the psychiatrist prescribes the drugs and that's about it. Then she tells me he needs to go to a therapist.

Her fee is like $300/hour to write a prescription and tell us to go somewhere else. I didn't like this chick to begin with and now I have to deal with her once a month because she's the only one within a 2-3 hour one way drive that we can get into at the moment.

Britt, can you not find a telehealth psychiatrist like, anywhere? why does she need to be local?

Child psychiatry is a lot trickier than general psych. I was told I could go to this chick that I didn't like before we got to this point, or over to Indiana would be the next closest that accepts our insurance and all that nonsense. Then Chicago was my next option. One hospital/network fairly close to us flat out won't take referrals from the hospital/network we frequent.

Finding a therapist has also been super fucking difficult because we started this during Covid and not everyone was open to taking new patients over the phone. Some don't accept our insurance. I was supposed to hear back from another and it's been like 3 weeks now so I'm guessing that one is a no.

We actually have a telehealth program free through our insurance, but again, at 14 he still technically needs a pediatric psychiatrist or therapist and that's not an option through this.

It's incredibly frustrating.

A child psychiatrist consult costs 105 here, and national health care only reimburses 100.5.
