It was a terrible fucking movie. The mineral that was difficult to obtain was called "Unobtainium." Fucking stupid.
I saw it in the theaters with the 3D glasses, and figured out why 3D movies suck donkey dick. To give you the illusion of depth, modern 3D movie makers not only offset the images so your eyes through the glasses pick up the slight distortion and translate that to parallax in the brain, but they take it further. They intentionally blur objects in the distance. This is why modern 3D is so convincing...you have your object focus, and everything else is out in th background, just like real life.dumb plot, cool to watch
Agree 100%I saw it in the theaters with the 3D glasses, and figured out why 3D movies suck donkey dick. The problem is when you start to look around away from where the director wants you to be looking for the scene. Your eyes and brain struggle to bring the out of focus objects into focus...which is how the brain and eyes work in real life. Eventually you end up with a headache or get sick.
Try it sometime, you will see artificially out of focus areas on the screen, and then eventually the whole thing is ruined.
I left the movie theater with a splitting headache after Avatar. Same with Alice in Wonderland. Now I just go see the 2D version of movies. It's cheaper and better on the eyes.Agree 100%
My first modern 3d movie was Alice in Wonderland. If you looked anywhere else except for the 20 degree range where the camera was centered it was like watching a VHS tape. Yeah, let's create a fully visualized world of whimsy, but DONT YOU FUCKING LOOK AT IT
On top of that they always do odd things just to have items popping out at the audience.
Pacific Rim was one of the best movies released that year. No pretense. "This is about big ass monsters that we fight with big robots. The plot has a small amount of sideline human drama, but don't worry about that so much. Here is another monster doing cool shit".
I don't even remember what movie I saw in 3D, it was some shitty Halloween-time movie a few years ago; but it fucked with my vision after and my head hurt so badly that I had a hard time driving home. I'll never see a movie in 3D again.I left the movie theater with a splitting headache after Avatar. Same with Alice in Wonderland. Now I just go see the 2D version of movies.
